Tutorial
The drag-and-drop editor method is simple and requires minimal effort. It requires no prior coding knowledge or any prior website building experience. It offers a lot of creative freedom for its users as long as they follow the outline of their selected method. Here is how to use this method.
Step 1 - You'll need to create an account on Wix to access Wix Editor. Once you've opened an account, you can move onto the next step.
Step 2 - You will be asked to choose a template. Wix offers over 500 templates to users. Depending on the sort of website you're trying to build, specific designs will be better suited for your website.
If you're building an e-commerce website, you should look into Wix Online Store templates. The same thing goes for bloggers. Wix Blog is a great resource for bloggers who want to build their websites using Wix.
Wix also has a blank template if you prefer to build your website from scratch. You can find this in the left column on the template page.
Step 3 - The next step and the most important one is to familiarize yourself with the header. The header can be found at the top of the page. It contains all you'll need to edit your template and build your website. This is where the menu is located and the upgrade, redo/undo, preview, publish, print, mobile view, and other tools.
If you've never used these Editor tools before or do not recognize the options available on the header, you can right-click each option to see what it represents or hover the cursor over the option you'd like to expand.
Step 4 - Now that you're familiar with the header, it's time to structure the site. Here you'll find options to arrange the list in a hierarchical order and add web modules which are web applications that may be useful on your website. Wix's App Market comes with over 250 web apps to support your Wix website, so you don't have to spend time searching for web apps that can be integrated into your website.
You can also add Wix media like images, videos, and GIFs. Finally, you can add .js files. .js files are JavaScript files used to execute instructions from JavaScript; such as creating menus that drop, Lottie animations, and opening/closing windows.
Step 5 - Next, it's time to use the section hover menu. The section hover menu can have as many as 6 sections. This may include the services or products offered on the site. The hover menu is a way to add elements to the site.
Here you can include pages, menus, testimonials, blog posts, galleries, and even an API. An API (Application Programming Interface) aids communication between the user and the system. In step 5, you can add apps from the Wix App Market that may be helpful to you.
Step 6 - You're almost done with building your Wix site, just a few more steps. Now, it's time to add the finishing touches. You can access the editing element, which is available in the toolbar on the header. Here you'll find the duplicate, copy and cut options to use as you please. You'll also find sizing, shape, and orientation editors, which will help you adjust the necessary sections till you're satisfied.
Step 7 - It's finally time to go live. You can preview the website before going live to ensure everything is as it should be.
These are 7 easy steps to follow when building a website on Wix. Of course, there are several customization options and other features available on Wix. You will find a lot of useful resources in the Wix App Market.
The ADI method is the Artificial intelligence design method. It may not give you as much creative liberty at first, but it is just as appealing. With this feature, all you have to do is answer a few questions to provide information on personal preferences and your general expectations. Here are the steps to follow.
Step 1 - There are only three steps in this section because the ADI designs the website for you. The first step is to answer the questions given to you.
Step 2 - The next step is to ensure your website is well suited to your needs. If it is not, you can always make some minor corrections or personalize it even further by following the steps in the preceding section.
Step 3 - You finally get to publish your Wix website!

SEO
Most web users pick sites that they find on the first page of Google rankings; therefore, standing out among 400 million active websites can be a big challenge; however, with a well-improved SEO, you will excel in your given niche.
In this article, we will explain some of the main SEO features of Wix and share a few tips on how to rank higher on Google. At the end of this piece, you will be able to know if using Wix is the best option for you and your website.
In the last couple of years, Wix has aligned its infrastructure with the needs of search engines to get the best SEO results and compete with other platforms such as WordPress.
Wix gives full control to users by allowing them to customize the site’s meta tags, URL slugs, canonical tags, structured data, robots.txt file, and more.
Follow actionable steps to optimize your SEO and get indexed by google.
Robots.txt is a file that tells bots which page to crawl and index and which page to ignore.
Your default site’s robots.txt file allows bots to search all of your site's pages; if you want to hide some of your private pages from search engines, you need to edit your robots.txt from your dashboard.
In a nutshell, structured data helps Google understand the content of a page; In other words, structured data provides more information about the meaning of a page to Google.
Wix automatically adds structured data to dynamic pages such as blog posts, events, and product pages to make the page content eligible to appear as a rich result, as shown here:
You can use Velo’s structured data API to override your default structured data.
SSR allows search engine bots to read your site content entirely, and the good news is Wix’s infrastructure is based on SSR.
An XML sitemap is a file located in your site's root directory that lists all the pages of your website and the link between them; Google and other search engines use this sitemap to find all the website pages listed on the sitemap.
Wix dynamically generates your XML sitemap and keeps it up to date whenever you add or remove a page from your site.
When you have a duplicate version of the same page(s), the canonical tag tells search engines to focus on the primary version of the page for indexing.
Wix automatically sets your default canonical tags; however, you have full control to customize them.
Redirecting tells your visitors and Google that a page or a website has a new location; for instance, if you change a page URL, your visitors will be redirected to the new location even if they use the old URL.
Using Wix URL Redirect Manager, you can manually set up a redirect for a single URL or save time by importing your CSV file for up to 500 URLs at once.
SEO-friendly meta tags will be auto-generated for all site pages by Wix; Such as title, description, and OG tags. With Wix SEO Patterns tool, you can modify your meta tags or add new ones and apply your changes across multiple products, blog pages or events, instead of editing page-by-page.
Site speed is a key signal used by Google's algorithms to rank pages.
One of the ways you can optimize your site speed is to optimize your images; Wix automatically does that for you for faster downloads. Wix automatically converts large images into WebP, a modern format smaller than JPEG images with the same quality.
Static pages will be cached automatically for faster load time.
AMP improves page load time for your blog posts on mobile devices.
Being mobile-friendly is another principal signal used by Google to rank pages.
Wix websites are fully responsive and mobile-friendly by default.
Take SEO control to the next level using SEO APIs; developers can override the default SEO setting. Add JavaScript and modify some of the site's HTML and create functions that set your meta tags, structured data.
Google My Business and Search Console are integrated into the Wix dashboard.
My Business is a free and powerful service from Google that allows businesses to connect with their customers on Google Search and Maps and maximize local search.
You can instantly verify your site and submit your sitemap right from your Wix dashboard using Google Search Console. On top of that, it reveals valuable insights such as search analytics and queries that bring users to your site; this aids you in optimizing your content.
Performance & Speed
When building a website, speed and security are things that many developers consider. Nobody wants to own a website exposed to cybercriminals or has poor speed and performance.
Wix Turbo was some technical updates launched at the beginning of 2019 to improve page speed and site performance. These updates were code optimization, page caching, optimized website layout, and bolstering server infrastructure to ensure your sites load much faster. This update is automatically enabled and is completely free - so you don't need to take any extra action.
We scratched beneath the surface and performed a speed test on eight random Wix templates using pingdom.com; the result was great! But don't just take our words for it; look at the results below:
Google has found that 53% of mobile website visitors will abandon a webpage if it doesn't load within three seconds. So to have the best chance to get raked on Google and grow your traffic, you need to take your site speed and performance seriously; because it is one of the key factors of ranking a website.
Wix Website Security helps you keep your website safe from unauthorized people. It protects your content and credentials to ensure that it is secure. When you work with Wix, security is one of the highest priorities.
For many other website builders, you have to deal with the hassle of buying a new domain name and SSL from scratch to secure your website. Thankfully, with Wix, you can get a good SSL plan for free to ensure your website is completely safe from hackers.
If you know whether your Wix website has SSL or not, look at the URL bar. If your URL begins with HTTPS:// this means that your website has been fully equipped with an SSL certificate. It is very suitable, and it provides you with the best kind of security you need to work with.
This is a must-have security feature for every online store owner to keep their transactions secure.
DDoS attacks on the website mean a denial of service attack. It usually occurs when hackers or cybercriminals penetrate vulnerable areas of the website and ultimately cause it to shut down; it is the last thing that a web-based business probably wants to deal with.
Working with Wix enables you to fight against DDoS attacks by masking any vulnerable area and fixing them to work correctly. Wix also upgrades all security protocols at different time intervals to improve its defense against DDoS attacks. With this protection, you are sure that your website is fully secure and completely protected from any attack.
A dedicated team at Wix monitors the security systems to ensure no suspicious activity while using the platform and conducts security reviews.
If you log in to your dashboard, you will access your account using a 2 step verification process. It is ideal because it helps you to prevent unrecognized devices from logging into your account. However, Wix understands that when unknown devices access your account, they will most likely cut down your website, which may not be ideal for you. So to prevent it, you will receive a code to confirm that you are the one coming into the platform.
Since Wix is a fully centralized SaaS (Software as a service) solution, it has its central security system. It simply means that once an update is made to the security system, the changes automatically reflect on your website.
Wix works with a team of experts worldwide to ensure that their platform is not compromised at anything. In addition, many privacy regulations present with Wix make them work and ensure that their products and services are top-notch.
Before a Wix server is deployed, it goes through extensive penetration testing to ensure that all websites are up and running. This penetration testing is ready to withstand any hit that may likely come from unauthorized personnel or hackers. It is one of the main reasons a lot of people trust the Wix platform.
Wix has a dedicated security team made up of industry experts that ensure that the platform is safe at all times. They also go the extra mile to bring in more consultants as different eyes to the process. With these teams in place, the overall internal and external security system is monitored correctly. In addition, there are a lot of review processes to ensure that the security infrastructure is solid.
Wix also employs professional freelance testing experts to join their program and work on the platform's security to achieve the best results. After the team has worked on the Platform, Wix brings in these people to try and penetrate the internals of these systems. Once any vulnerability is found, team goes back to the table and ensures that the vulnerability is fixed within the shortest time frame.
Help & Support
The customer care unit at Wix is committed to ensuring that your interest is met and your problems are solved.
You may get used to the old method of customer support, a phone number or an email on top of the website, you call or send an email, and someone may help you out; this is not how Wix Help Center works, so let us explain it in this article.
To contact Wix, make sure you are logged in from a computer, then visit Contacting Customer Care page; here, Wix Bot will ask you a few questions to classify your topic and gives you some solutions, if your problem persists, you can request a callback or choose to chat with an expert related to your case, if you prefer live chat, an agent will reply to you immediately, and, if you request a callback, an expert will call you in a few minutes.
So, there is no direct phone number or an email address to contact Wix; this can be a bit confusing for new users, but it's very straightforward; we think this is the only practical method to help millions of users worldwide.

The site back of the Wix hosted website is an automatic backing up point of your website that can be restored when needed.
You can start using Wix for free; while there are some drawbacks to the free plan, but it allows you to test the platform before going premium.
The combination of Wix's wide range of templates and the app market gives you endless possibilities.
Wix offers over 800 templates with exceptional design (and constantly updating). They provide pre-built layouts for many topics and industries. In addition, you can add extra functionalities to your website using the app market, things like newsletter tool, live chat, online booking, and much more. These can all be incorporated into your website.
Wix is the only platform we suggest for small businesses and websites, such as restaurants, consulting services, booking, events, CV and portfolios.
Wix has a 100 static page limit. You can use dynamic pages to populate more than 100 pages, but that still doesn't make sense when you can't migrate to another platform. So avoid Wix if you have a content-heavy website in mind such as Cnet or PCmag.
For content heavy blogs and websites, WordPress can be a better CMS platform with great features and plugins.
For large online stores, shopify is a better option.
Unlike WordPress, Wix does not allow users to export content and migrate to another platform in a seamless process. Therefore, if you need to migrate your website to another platform, this needs to be done manually for every single page; this can be a nightmare for content-heavy websites.
Wix offers a wide variety of beautiful and unique templates that you can work with. However, if you choose a template and publish your site, it is often quite difficult to change it to another one. So, if you are going for a template on Wix, please ensure that you have taken enough time to use the template, understand its features and accept that it will work for you for an extended period; this is the only way you can get good results.
You may face extra charges on your next renewal if you use additional apps and the free domain bonus. It's not a deal breaker, but you need to be aware of it.
